Zetechtics Ltd has been honoured with a King’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade 2024 for Outstanding Continuous Growth in overseas sales over 6 years. This is the most prestigious business award in the country for business performance and this year Zetechtics is one of 252 organisations nationally to be recognised. A total of 257 Awards were given; 161 of these for their contribution to International Trade.

The total growth of international trade at Zetechtics Ltd over the six-year period was over 2,000%, with overseas sales increasing from 5% in year one to 51% in year six. Major markets within this period were Brazil and the Netherlands. To meet the growing demand for Zetechtics’ Jupiter products and services in South America, the opening of new business, Zetechtics do Brasil Ltda, was announced in 2022 after supplying the Zetechtics’ Jupiter equipment to the Brazilian market for over a decade.

The Awards were announced to the public in May 2024, and a reception was held at Windsor Castle in July for all the King’s Awards for Enterprise recipients in the presence of His Majesty King Charles III, of which the owners of Zetechtics Ltd, Tim and Judith Overfield attended.

On Friday 29th November 2024, Tim Overfield, the Chairman of Zetechtics Ltd was presented with the Award by the county’s Lord-Lieutenant Jo Ropner at Zetechtics’ Amotherby premises, in the presence of Deputy Lieutenant David Kerfoot CBE DL, the Deputy Mayor of Malton, Councillor Lindsay Burr, the Chairman of North Yorkshire Council, Councillor Roberta Swiers and the staff at Zetechtics. The dignitaries toured the building and were given an insight into the products prior to the formal presentation ceremony in the workshop. During the ceremony, the Lord-Lieutenant gave a speech praising the company for their impressive, innovative products, and emphasized that the hard work and dedication displayed at Zetechtics could not be more deserving of this highly respected accolade. This was followed by the reading of the Award Scroll by her deputy, and concluded with a heartfelt speech from Tim. A short video message was played during the event from Local MP for Thirsk and Malton, Kevin Hollinrake, who was unable to attend in person.

Zetechtics was established in 1993 by Local Entrepreneur Tim Overfield in Kirkbymoorside, on the edge of the Yorkshire Moors. Having lived in Ryedale since 1977, Tim worked for several local businesses and developed a deep understanding of the need for new and innovative ways to assist the energy industry to work subsea. Tim’s idea was to radically change the way that subsea control systems were being implemented. With his extensive industry experience and technical knowledge in ROV design, Tim’s theory of making the electronics pressure tolerant for use in an oil-filled valve pack, reduced the complexity of wiring systems and ultimately removed the need for expensive pressure vessels to house the electronics. This led to the design of the first Zetechtics’ Jupiter Subsea Control System. The Jupiter Control Systems, now a product range, combine highly versatile electronics hardware and hydraulic valves in a compact oil compensated enclosure.

The Jupiter design received royal recognition in 2003, with Zetechtics winning a Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation, and today, are proud to be a leading manufacturer of subsea control equipment and tooling for the global offshore energy industry.

Tim is delighted that the business has been honoured with two Royal Awards. Commenting on receiving the King’s Award, Tim says: “This is a fantastic accolade for Zetechtics and one that we can all be extremely proud of. Our team’s hard work and dedication throughout this period of growth, leading to this recognition, has been immense. Being based rurally does not prevent a business from being global facing, and we are truly grateful to all our customers around the UK and worldwide.”
